MARIAM ZAKI

Counselling Psychologist

Mariam received her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida in the United States. In addition to that, she also attained a certificate in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling alongside her degree from the same university. Due to her academic excellence, Mariam was accepted into and is currently a member of Chi Sigma Iota, which is an American National Honors Counseling Society and is a member of the American Counseling Association.

Through her therapeutic journey, she has gained experience working at her university’s counseling clinic with culturally diverse individuals, couples, and families with issues surrounding depression, anxiety, relationship turmoil, and trauma. Afterwards, Mariam continued gaining clinical experience by working at a facility where she held individual, family, and group sessions, which focused on helping individuals recover from maladaptive behavior, childhood trauma, familial issues, and relationship abuse.

Mariam emphasizes providing clients with unconditional positive regard and empathy during sessions, which is why she works with a humanistic, person-centered framework, while incorporating the principles of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Mariam’s primary concern is for clients to feel supported and comfortable during sessions as she understands that every person’s experiences are different and that no two people are the same. It is for this reason that she strives to provide a secure, nonjudgmental environment for people to be able to openly be their true, authentic selves.
