SILVIA DOSS

Clinical Counselor

Silvia earned her Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling (MACMHC) from CCU, Colorado, USA. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) from the United States National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and follows their ethical standards.

Silvia provides individual, group, and couple’s therapy. She has worked with individuals who are living with mood disorders, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and sex and gender-based violence (SGBV). She leads different groups including anxiety and mindfulness-based groups.

Silvia utilizes Gottman Couples therapy, which is a research-based approach to relationships and couples therapy, helping couples to work on building trust and commitment towards each other through managing their conflicts and communication issues, building shared meaning, and understanding each other’s world.

She is passionate about working with her clients to walk a journey of growth and self-awareness so they can be their own counselors.

Silvia believes that building a therapeutic relationship and providing empathy are core factors in counseling. She has extensive training in several psychotherapy approaches. She believes that every client needs a tailored treatment plan that fits his/her struggles; therefore, she uses an eclectic and integrated approach using acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients accept what they can’t change and work on what they can change with a focus on the present moment.

Silvia works on her cultural competency through continuously working on her self-awareness, understanding her client’s beliefs and worldview, and utilizing interventions that align her client’s beliefs.
