Counseling Psychologist | Trauma-Informed Therapist
Mariam Fishere is a counseling psychologist with experience across clinical, humanitarian, academic, and international mental health settings. She has worked with diverse populations in Egypt, Germany, and across the Middle East and Europe, particularly refugees, survivors of violence, individuals experiencing severe distress, and people navigating complex life transitions.
Mariam holds a PhD in Psychology from Goethe University Frankfurt and an MA in Counseling Psychology from the American University in Cairo (AUC).
Her clinical and research work has focused on trauma, narrative identity, emotional wellbeing, and culturally responsive mental health care.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and draws primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative approaches, and evidence-based psychosocial interventions. She is particularly interested in how personal narratives, meaning-making, and cultural context shape how individuals experience psychological distress, identity, and healing.
Her work is informed by experience in both face-to-face and digital mental health settings, including collaborations with organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Mariam works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, stress and burnout, emotional dysregulation, grief, interpersonal challenges, and adjustment difficulties. She also supports professionals exposed to chronic stress and secondary trauma, as well as individuals navigating migration, displacement, and cross-cultural transitions.
In addition, she has experience working with individuals presenting with problematic sexual behaviors and related psychological difficulties within trauma-informed, reflective, and non-judgmental therapeutic frameworks.
She provides counseling in Arabic and English and is committed to creating a collaborative, culturally sensitive, and thoughtful therapeutic space.
