MIRA SHAKER

Clinical Counselor (Trainee)

Mira is a trainee person-centered counselor in the final stages of completing her MSc in Counseling and Psychotherapy at Keele University. Prior to this, Mira earned her BA in Psychology from The American University in Cairo (AUC).

 

During her masters, she trained in the United Kingdom, gaining valuable experience at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, where she offered bereavement counseling. Mira is also currently training at Healthbox CIC, providing general counseling. She has seen clients from a diverse age range of 25 to 60 years and has experience with anxiety, depression, grief & loss, career stress, and relationship difficulties. She has worked both face-to-face and online.

 

As an active member of the British Association for Counseling Psychologists (BACP), Mira’s commitment revolves around prioritizing the well-being and safety of clients through working ethically.

 

Mira has completed courses in Essentials of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and CBT for Anxiety from the Beck Institute. She has received clinical training at various renowned hospitals like Al Mashfa Hospital & Resort.

 

Mira’s practice is grounded in the person-centered approach where she trusts in the transformative potential of the therapeutic relationship. She aims to facilitate a non-judgmental, empathic, and honest space for clients to explore whatever it is they are bringing. Collaboratively, she integrates other therapeutic modalities as necessary, always valuing the autonomy of each client.

 

She can conduct therapy sessions in English and Arabic.
